11 Little Things About Me
1. I miss the ocean in Scotland everyday. I grew up overseas at a really pivotal time in my life, from the age of 4 to almost 9. I believe that when you live next to something so WILD like the sea, or the desert - it gets in your soul and takes hold of something very primal and real in you and doesn’t let go throughout your life.
2. I smile all the time. Like, a stupid amount really. But that’s just because I’m happy! I am how I am all the time around other people - there is only one Adrian. And she is present all the time.
3. I get really distracted easily. Wait…SQUIRELL!
Ok but really, I get bored with things if they stay the same. I need variety, excitement and a little bit of danger to make me stay in one place for a while.

4. I’m super self examining now that I’m a little older, and it’s amazing how good for a body it can be to honestly examine one's self and see what could change and what rocks about YOU!
5. I’m a little bit of a feminist, too old fashioned to believe in it truly, very independent, and don’t like being told what to do. If you do need to tell me what to do, it’s best to approach me with coffee in your hands. Just a heads up.
6. My whole world is made up of and made special by my family. My momma, daddy and sister mean the world to me - and are what keep me going through the hard times and struggles.
7. I have a horrible addiction to shopping. The end. Basically, it’s a problem. Wether it is for “new” vintage silver bits, conchos, boots, dresses, high heels, hats, vintage clothes, books, flowers…you name it. It’s a horrible habit I know…but hey, I’m a girl!
8. I read an inordinate amount. It doesn’t matter what it is, I will read it. Books take you escaping through time and space to new places and experiences you can only dream about. I recently unpacked all of my boxes of books that were not yet at home in my lil house here at the ranch after this summer’s move. I have counted something around 300 and there is still more…and yes. I am buying more everyday, but you can’t put a price on knowledge!
9. I used to live in a 14 foot Indian lodge. Through the winter and summer...well all seasons. I loved the tradition of getting wood, water and watching the stars through the smoke flaps at night while the smoke flew up towards places I couldn’t follow to.
10. I miss Nevada everyday, but love how my life has changed and discovering all the wonderful aspects of living in CA again…It has a beautiful history, and stunning beauty that you just don’t expect.
11. I love traveling to new cities to play, new stages, new people, new experiences….but sometimes the best feeling of all is when I get to saddle up a pony, and hit out at a fast trot, living what I sing.

My grandparents spent most of the year living in Harbor, outside of Brookings. So we got to spend a lot of time at the coast. I loved it, but was also very afraid of it. I guess the desert is much the same, without water. But the sea demands respect, and if you lose that, youre likely to lose your life. I cant even imagine the wonderful and amazing times you had in Scotland! And what a scary sea! I too have a major shopping addiction. I've actually gone shopping, then put everything back, bc I have to tell myself No. My dad used to joke I could make a man broke in Any kind of store. But it s fun! I Love books. People are constantly giving me books, but I never give them away. Everytime I move, my helpers complain about my totes of books. And someone always mentions just throwing them away, umm no, I'm not Hitler. And northern california is lucky to have you all here!!!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I just want you to know that I read your comment out loud to my entire family and we laughed our butts off at the Hitler comment!! That was excellent!! :) Scotland was wonderful, I miss it a lot :) Thanks for the wonderful comment!! :)
