It has been QUITE the crazy travel-filled/late-night/early-morning/lots of coffee and singing kind of weekend...
I had such a wonderful time up in Oregon outside of the adorable town of Bly at the Aspen Ridge Resort. Karen and Steve are two of the most wonderful folks you'll ever meet, and they did a wonderful job of putting on a really fun dinner/concert on Saturday night. Getting to play cowboy music in some of the most gorgeous country God made was truly such a blessing, getting to meet a great group of awesome folks and see some old friends was even more wonderful!
Beautiful Aspen Ridge Resort
The Birthday girl of the night Abby Armstrong and I...
Her parents surprised her for her big day with a trip out to the concert, and her adorable brother Casey made sure he got some Buckaroogirl albums to give to his favorite big sissy. Things like that just totally make my night and remind me of my family and how much they love to always do something fun for our birthdays...
The view from the back balcony at the resort...so gorgeous!
The night of the concert at the resort, I packed up my gear-got a cup of coffee to go from the awesome folks there and hit the road for Santa Cruz CA! This isn't the first time (or the last I'm sure) that I've had to drive through the night to make it somewhere after a show, but this one was pretty crazy! I saw a dang mountain lion on the first part of my drive which was totally freaky....I don't know if any of you guys have ever been up-close and personal with a cat, but I had a vehicle in between me and that thing STILL gave me the creeps!
About 5 hours down the road and around 3am I had a wonderful surprise....my amazing Momma drove all the way down the mountain from the ranch and helped me by sharing the driving to my morning interview on KPIG radio....
Seriously, who does that? It was so lovely of her and made my life SO much easier! (and a lot less dangerous!)
John over at KPIG was so lovely, and we had a fantastic time singing some tunes from the Buckaroogirl album and chatting about life on the road, writing and the folks we knew and loved getting to perform with.
We had a fantastic time getting to spend some time alone together and of course, chowed down on some awesome breakfast at the Cowboys Corner Cafe by the KPIG station...
Back home again Monday morning I got a BIG surprise and am really really excited to let you all in on a little secret....I was just accepted to compete in the Miss California USA 2014 competition! I know it's going to be a super fun and exciting new experience, and I can't wait to add my own little bit of Buckaroogirl style onto something totally different than what I'm used to....stay tuned!
Lots of love to you all,
xoxo
